This year, the Salon for Decorators was held in Atlanta.
Different rooms, situated closely to one another, were used to house the expositions, lectures, demonstrations and joint murals. The turnout from Europe was somewhat lesser than in previous years. Barre Verkerke took part in the Salon for the second time, bringing three works, two of which were made in a novel technique developed by Verkerke, using epoxy-resin. During the week’s length of the Salon, he created four panels in the course of demonstrating and work on the joint mural. The latter was a project for decorating temporary housing in the form of a container in developed American neighborhoods. They offer a temporary accommodation until a real building is constructed to replace it.
‘The exchange of techniques and sharing your passions with top-range decorators from all over the world is an enrichment to the trade. Also, the Salon stimulated you to come up with something surprising and innovative to show one another each year’, according to Verkerke.
