The study group painters organizes several information evenings each year, for instance for product information from paint factories. Once or twice a year, there is also a practical evening.
This year, Verkerke was allowed to arrange an evening, which was a great honor to him. The evening became a mixture of practice and theory, which also included and overview of his work, themed “watching with the brain”. This delved deeper into the concept of perceiving illusions. An interesting notion, because what we are actually seeing is often different from what we humans make of it. Some 30 interested people, mostly from Brabant, attended the evening. By means of a film camera and projection, both the practical and theoretical portions could be followed step-by-step on a big screen. It turned out to be a pleasant and educational evening.
