Faux Expo 2011

In September of 2011, Verkerke had his second exposition and series of demonstrations in the United States.

This time, he appeared at the Faux Expo in Orlando. The exposition hall was also used as a venue for demonstrations, and a number of American decorative businesses had stands there. Over the course of the exposition teams of three to four participants worked on jointly creating a mural. Gert-Jan Nijsse (NL),Jack Labadie (US) and Barre Verkerke faced up to the challenge, which resulted in a beautiful panel. ‘The greatest challenge is making the mural in such a waythat it appears to be the work of one person. We took advantage of everyone’s personal specialties, and this worked delightfully well. A charming detail is the fact that the woman is picking growing gems (rather than flowers), and because of that, is turning into marble.’ according to Verkerke. The collaboration was both an educational and a beautiful experience.
