BVK Paintworks was nominated in the category ‘decorative’ with a large project in 2010.
The annual Painter’s Professional Award seeks to promote and encourage top-end painting and upkeep by rewarding exceptional examples thereof.
Verkerke’s project concerned a monumental farm, beautifully situated in the Zwaakse Weel (historically an influent dividing the island of South Beveland). Apart from upkeep-related paintwork, there was a lot of room for restoration and decoration. For example, the old, reinstated bedstead wall was imitated in traditional oak, and the corridor was enlivened with template-techniques.
Decorative painting seems to be experiencing a resurgence in our country. Not only is attention paid to old techniques and the repair of decorative paintings in restorations, in new projects wood- and stone imitations and other painting techniques are increasingly in demand. A joyous development, because it concerns an exceptional trade requiring a great deal of knowledge, understanding, customer-oriented working and talent.
